How it works

Forward an email. Get a calendar invite back.

Send or forward an email to add@tomycal.com. Muffin finds the event details and replies to the address you sent from with a calendar invitation. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

The shortest successful forward

Open the email that contains the event, forward it to add@tomycal.com, and send. You do not need to delete the forwarded quoting, write a subject, or add any instruction.

Muffin replies only to the address the email was sent from. Nothing is sent to anyone in the CC line or to any address found inside the forwarded content.

Writing the details yourself

You do not have to forward anything. A new email works just as well. A date, a time, and what the event is are usually enough.

For example: Dentist on March 4 at 9:15 a.m.

Optional instructions

Instructions are optional. Muffin produces a useful result without them. When you want to be specific, write the instruction in your own words in the body of the email, above the forwarded content.

  • Only the first session, please.
  • Remind me 30 minutes before.
  • This is a deadline, not a meeting.

An instruction that applies to one email only affects that email. Wording inside the forwarded content is treated as source material, never as an instruction to Muffin.

Saving a default timezone

You usually do not need to mention a timezone. Muffin uses one stated in the content, or one established by a clear physical venue, and all-day items do not need one at all.

When a timed event has no safe timezone, Muffin creates no invitation and asks you to resend the original email with a statement of your own timezone, such as My timezone is Central Time. That becomes your saved default for later emails from the same address. You do not need an account for this.

One email, one or many invitations

A single email can produce one invitation or several. A season schedule with twelve sessions produces twelve separate invitations, and it still counts as one successful email. A submission may produce up to 20 calendar items.

Whether it lands on your calendar automatically

That is decided by your own email and calendar provider, not by ToMyCal. Some providers place the invitation on your calendar automatically. Others show it in the message and ask you to accept it or open the attached invite file. Every response includes a standard invite file as a fallback.

Corrections, changes, and cancellations

Muffin does not keep a pending conversation and cannot reach into your calendar. If a detail was wrong, resend the original content with the correction and add the new invitation. If an event was cancelled, Muffin tells you what to delete or decline yourself.

Making it easy to repeat

When an email includes a date you want to keep, forward it to Muffin.
